When Is Summer Going To End

Here in Washington State we have had
a record hot streak that is for sure. Even
rain has been at a minimum. So little hasn't
really registered at all.

In Western Washington we had record
temperatures hitting over one hundred
in July and almost the same in August.
Depending on where you were at a few
places reached one hundred while others
were in the mid 90s. Never had it before.

Does this mean summer will last longer
then normal as well. I am not sure anyone
really knows for sure.  Fall usually begins
in mid to late September or early October.
I wonder if summer will drag into October
this year.

This year travel to Washington has been a
good thing. I know people who have gone
to Hawaii from here as well. Personally
I would have postponed my trip to Hawaii
but I have never been there ever. I would
look to go Hawaii in the fall or winter. For
those who have family in Hawaii a different
story.

I haven't decided where I will go for my next
travel in September. There is so many nice
places to see in Western Washington besides
going to Eastern Washington. The other side
of the state usually is ten agrees warmer then
what we have here so summer time isn't
favorable to me unless you like having hot
weather. There are a lot of nice places to go
in Eastern Washington especially north near
the Canadian border, however, I would prefer
in the spring or fall.

I will be speaking with my sister on Friday
over zoom. I have to see whether she still
plans to come out from Quebec, Canada in
October. Right now there is a mask mandate
where indoors are expected to wear them while
outdoors not necessarily unless there is a good
size crowd.

When it comes to Washington state you can't
go wrong wherever you decide to go. Besides
Eastern and Western Washington central part
of the state is good to go as well. Along the
Columbia River is as good places to visit to.
Enjoy your travel wherever you go. Stay safe!

A Good Time

This summer has been the best I have seen around Western Washington if you like hot weather.

The temperatures the highest on.record. For the second time now near one hundred depending where you are at. Seattle will be about five degrees less but still hot. The Pike Place Market welcoming visitors back. Near the Space Needle is the new arena where the expansion hockey team to the NHL will be playing beginning in October. Though construction is still happening though almost done it will be nice to see from the outside. There are other good places to see around Seattle to.

The Washington coast won't be as hot as here and Whidbey island is only going to be around 77 degrees. A cold breeze going through the area.  Canada is now open so there the city of Vancouver to visit along with Victoria on Vancouver Island. So.much to see beyond Victoria.

Safe travels wherever you may go.

Visit the Puyallup River

On Tuesday August 3 I took another adventure
drive this time to nearby Puyallup. Actually I
went to the river. The river goes from Tacoma
through the city of Puyallup. You take the
Puyallup exit off of I5 and go east. The river
is off to the left. This time of the year the
river is a bit muddy but is wide. The river
doesn't move a whole lot this time of the
year either. At least when you travel from
Tacoma to Puyallup.

Many people who are not from here have a hard
time pronouncing the name. I would recommend
asking someone when you come here.

The Puyallup Valley is really nice to see. Taking
the same exit take the first road at a light to the
right. Keep following the road you will come to
the valley.

Another reason to come to Puyallup is the Western
Washington fair. It takes place in September. It
used to be only two weeks long in the middle of
the month. Now the fair goes for most of September.
The weather is nice still. There is always good fair
food well as seeing animals like horses. A country
style fair for sure. Throughout the time the fair is
open there are headline singers almost every night.
Most of them are country so you like that kind of
music Puyallup is the place to be. Also  there are
smaller acts throughout the fair as well. Music
brings good tone to the fair.

The Puyallup fairgrounds is used for other events
throughout the year as well though the "Fair" as
it is called is the main event of the year.

When  you come to Tacoma I would recommend
see Puyallup whether the city or the river. Not
big thrills but still shouldn't miss it. There are
other towns like Sumner and Bonney Lake nearby.
Also Puyallup is on the way to Mount Rainier too.
You can see the mountain behind the river.

Another Adventure on Wednesday

There are so many places to see in Washington.
I am not sure I would see every place unless I
spent every day trying.

We have the mountains and the ocean not
counting rivers and lakes. Coming to
Washington you have many choices to
chose from.

We have the San Juan Islands to which you
take a ferry or chart a boat.

On Wednesday I will go to Westport on
the south end of Washington coast. The
population is just under two thousand
people however ay see a lot more during
the summer. I will let you know. Lol

People enjoy surfing in Westport although
there are those who like to go out fishing
to. You can find boats for rental. I have a
friend going to Westport to fish in a
couple weeks.

Last Week

I went last week on what I call adventure drive. It is like adventure travel however for the day.

I went first to Quilicine a small town West after crossing over the Hood Canal Bridge. Right by Quilicine is the Ranger Station where you can by a long life pass to the National Parks. if you are a senior the cost is the same for entering a national park once however in this case case for the rest of your life. The ranger station you can see a map of the Olympic Mountain National Park.

After Quilicine I drove back going where I came however continued east to Fort Flagger. It is on Indian Island I think or right by it anyway. You go on Indian Island anyway. Fort Flagger is one of three Forts that are not working now. The other two are by Port Townsend which isn't to much farther just check the signs and the third is on Whidbey Island.

Anyway Fort Flagger and Fort Warden by Port Townsend you can do in one day. Want to see the one on Whidbey Island you can take a ferry ride from Port Townsend. Not a long ferry ride.

Find your adventure drive for the day.

Port Orchard and Poulsbo

Two wonderful places to see on the Olympic
Peninsula are Port Orchard and Poulsbo. They
each have wonderful waterfront.

Going south from Seattle when you reach
Tacoma you see the Dome Stadium on the
right the next exit is for Bremerton and
highway 16. After going over the Tacoma
Bridge you will go about 15 miles. You
will see two exits for Port Orchard. You
take the first exit turn right at the first
light. Go until you come to a light which
is Bethel. You turn left go for several
miles past several shopping coming to a
round about then go straight. Stay on
the road which will go left. You will see
the waterfront on the right.

You will be able to see Bremerton Bay
as well. You follow the same road that
goes back to highway 16. Stay on the
highway when it comes to Bremerton
where you will see the Navy Shipyard
ahead then turn left to highway 3. It is
just over 20 miles to Poulsbo. Follow
the signs. You can visit a newer part
of Poulsbo or Old Poulsbo as well.

In between Bremerton and Poulsbo
there is Silverdale as well. There
isn't really a waterfront however
you can see what looks like a lake
as well.

Depending how much time you can
see all this in one day if you desire.
You stay on highway 3 you go over
the Hood Canal Bridge where you
can visit Port Townsend off to the
east and going north to Port Angeles.
Over the Hood Canal there are other
places to visit as well. When you go
onto highway 101 Port Angeles is
less then an hour. Port Angeles is
close to the Olympic Mountains.
What a wonderful area. Tell you
more about that next time.

A good idea to get a map for the
whole area.

Travel In Washington

I do plan to start traveling real soon, however,
I am going to write about the different places
to see around Washington state.

Most people out of Washington know about
Seattle but not much besides. We have Mt.
Rainier along with the rest of the cascades,
and the Olympic Mountains. Many nice
places to hike for those who are interested
in.

We have the San Juan Islands which you get
to by ferry unless you have a boat to get to
as well.

My home town Gig Harbor has a wonderful
waterfront, however, there are other towns
like Port Orchard which is nearby plus Poulsbo
where you look out toward Seattle. Port Townsend
has a good waterfront as well. Port Angeles
you can view Vancouver Island. When  the
ferries are running when the border to Canada
is open.

Both north and south well as east plus west
so good places to see. I will get into those
places to.

Having A Five Year Travel Plan

I have a friend who works with a five year plan.  I know sometimes when businesses  hire someone they may ask if you have  a five year plan....
