Another Adventure on Wednesday

There are so many places to see in Washington.
I am not sure I would see every place unless I
spent every day trying.

We have the mountains and the ocean not
counting rivers and lakes. Coming to
Washington you have many choices to
chose from.

We have the San Juan Islands to which you
take a ferry or chart a boat.

On Wednesday I will go to Westport on
the south end of Washington coast. The
population is just under two thousand
people however ay see a lot more during
the summer. I will let you know. Lol

People enjoy surfing in Westport although
there are those who like to go out fishing
to. You can find boats for rental. I have a
friend going to Westport to fish in a
couple weeks.

Last Week

I went last week on what I call adventure drive. It is like adventure travel however for the day.

I went first to Quilicine a small town West after crossing over the Hood Canal Bridge. Right by Quilicine is the Ranger Station where you can by a long life pass to the National Parks. if you are a senior the cost is the same for entering a national park once however in this case case for the rest of your life. The ranger station you can see a map of the Olympic Mountain National Park.

After Quilicine I drove back going where I came however continued east to Fort Flagger. It is on Indian Island I think or right by it anyway. You go on Indian Island anyway. Fort Flagger is one of three Forts that are not working now. The other two are by Port Townsend which isn't to much farther just check the signs and the third is on Whidbey Island.

Anyway Fort Flagger and Fort Warden by Port Townsend you can do in one day. Want to see the one on Whidbey Island you can take a ferry ride from Port Townsend. Not a long ferry ride.

Find your adventure drive for the day.

Port Orchard and Poulsbo

Two wonderful places to see on the Olympic
Peninsula are Port Orchard and Poulsbo. They
each have wonderful waterfront.

Going south from Seattle when you reach
Tacoma you see the Dome Stadium on the
right the next exit is for Bremerton and
highway 16. After going over the Tacoma
Bridge you will go about 15 miles. You
will see two exits for Port Orchard. You
take the first exit turn right at the first
light. Go until you come to a light which
is Bethel. You turn left go for several
miles past several shopping coming to a
round about then go straight. Stay on
the road which will go left. You will see
the waterfront on the right.

You will be able to see Bremerton Bay
as well. You follow the same road that
goes back to highway 16. Stay on the
highway when it comes to Bremerton
where you will see the Navy Shipyard
ahead then turn left to highway 3. It is
just over 20 miles to Poulsbo. Follow
the signs. You can visit a newer part
of Poulsbo or Old Poulsbo as well.

In between Bremerton and Poulsbo
there is Silverdale as well. There
isn't really a waterfront however
you can see what looks like a lake
as well.

Depending how much time you can
see all this in one day if you desire.
You stay on highway 3 you go over
the Hood Canal Bridge where you
can visit Port Townsend off to the
east and going north to Port Angeles.
Over the Hood Canal there are other
places to visit as well. When you go
onto highway 101 Port Angeles is
less then an hour. Port Angeles is
close to the Olympic Mountains.
What a wonderful area. Tell you
more about that next time.

A good idea to get a map for the
whole area.

Travel In Washington

I do plan to start traveling real soon, however,
I am going to write about the different places
to see around Washington state.

Most people out of Washington know about
Seattle but not much besides. We have Mt.
Rainier along with the rest of the cascades,
and the Olympic Mountains. Many nice
places to hike for those who are interested
in.

We have the San Juan Islands which you get
to by ferry unless you have a boat to get to
as well.

My home town Gig Harbor has a wonderful
waterfront, however, there are other towns
like Port Orchard which is nearby plus Poulsbo
where you look out toward Seattle. Port Townsend
has a good waterfront as well. Port Angeles
you can view Vancouver Island. When  the
ferries are running when the border to Canada
is open.

Both north and south well as east plus west
so good places to see. I will get into those
places to.

Travel During April

Her we are finishing  up  the  first week  of April.  It supposed to be spring now however in Washington  State it  feels  like winter still...
