Travel Beginning

It is nice to see people are beginning to travel once again. So much getting a new passport is going to take some time.

I am right now in the planning stage to travel myself. I hope to go Canada in the fall. I most likely go to British Columbia. Like most places a lot to see.

Next year I will go to Quebec where my sister lives. Her son Ken lives in Montreal. Has been a lot of things to see.

Stay tuned because I will write about the places I will go before arriving.

This shot I took in my car going down in Gig Harbor Washington. Looking out toward Vashon Island on the left. Only get to Vashon by boat or ferry.

hey there

I am sorry I haven't posted much here,
however, I plan to post here most often.
Be sure to check my other two google
sites about lookatlifepurpose and my
sports site as well.

I hope to be able to travel around the
USA at some point this year when the
virus calms down.

I have been some around my home
state of Washington in the past year.
All in the western half of the state.
Primarily I get to many places within
two hours of driving so I can visit
the places in a day and go home.

Let you know you can visit me on
both instagram and facebook just
do a search for herb nightingale.

So far I have put pictures on Instagram
however planning to do so on Facebook
as well. I plan to have a group site for
everyone on both sites when I am traveling
on a regular basis. I will give you link
here and also on my website herbnightingale.com.
You can actually view a blog of mine on
that site as well.

Another thing I plan on doing here is to
tell a bit of the history of the places I am
visiting. I think it is a good idea people
know a bit of the places I am visiting.

Anyway thanks for visiting here and I
hope someday I will run into in some
town or city. We can sit down for coffee
or team and chat.

Thanks enjoy your travels.

Travel in 2021

I am looking forward to do some traveling
in 2021. I hoping the vaccine will take place
soon. Until I do I will be looking to do more
traveling around my home state of Washington.

I know there will be some who won't want to
take the vaccine. I know the decision won't be
easy and everyone should have the choice to
or not to take the vaccine.

The problem though there will be those who
will make the decision for us. There is a good
chance if you want to travel especially out of
the USA or your home country. Passports or
countries likely will require proof of taking
the vaccine.

The trouble I have with that is taking the choice
out of the hands of people. Even the bigger
problem is some people will have trouble taking
the vaccine. Other words, they may have bad
reaction from the vaccine. Should those people
be banned from traveling.

On Tuesday this week I took a drive south down
toward Mt. Saint Helens I didn't drive all the way
to the mountain. In fact, I wasn't able to see the
mountain. Not sure whether it because it was a
cloudy day.

The visitor center near by the Toutle River was
closed. Even if it had been opened I wasn't really
impressed. I thought they would have a better
center than that. When opened could have good
information for visitors, however, I didn't think
this would be the case.

I didn't take any pictures  in the area. I hope to
next time I go down to that area. Interstate 5
doesn't have the exit very clear so you would
want to take exit 49 at Castle Rock then head
east. Information on my phone says it is about
1 hour 40 minute drive to Mt. Saint Helen's.

My next I am going north on highway 16 where
I live in Gig Harbor Washing for Port Angeles
Washington. It is about a 90 minute drive. I am
planning go to Crescent Bay. I have never been
there though I have been to Port Angeles quite
a few times.

Crescent Bay is only a few minutes West from
Port Angeles. I am told you can see Victoria
British Columbia on a nice day. I will let you
know whether that is true. Also, you can visit
Crescent Lake which is a beautiful lake about
20 miles going west. It is near the beginning
of Olympic National Park. Nice drive going
along the lake.

Tuesday Washington Coast

On Tuesday I took a trip to Ocean Shores well as
Pacific Beach and Moclips. All three spots are
within a few miles of each other.

The weather I have to say wasn't the greatest.
I only saw a few cars at each spot as well.
Other words November isn't the greatest time
to go.

At Ocean Shores there is several hotels and they
looked like they did have some occupancy but
I am sure nothing like in the spring and summer
time.

This year with Covid-19 they haven't had a lot
of people coming for vacation either. It is a good
spot to see the waves go in the Pacific Ocean.

The weather was alright on the way to the coast
but arriving it was windy at Ocean Shores. So a
bit cold for sure. Heading to Pacific Beach the
rain came down hard along with some hail.

Ocean Shores is about a three hour drive from
Seattle. You start by heading south on Interstate
5 take the Olympia exit to highway 101. The
highway turns into 12. At Hoquiam take highway
119.  It takes about a half-hour to Ocean Shores.
You can get on highway 101 as well in Hoquiam.
You go further north heading to the Hoh River.
It is about an hour drive before Fork, Washington.

There are other beaches you can stop at as well
on the way too. Nice place to visit but I would say
better when the weather warms up.

Just An Update

I haven't traveled anywhere in the area for the
last three weeks almost. Going to Mt. Rainier
was my last trip.

Right now I plan to take a trip to the Washington
coast either next week or the week after that. It
may depend on the weather too

I don't recall ever going to the coast this time
of the year. Usually went during the summer.

The Olympic National Park and Forest is near
the Washington coast. When I was in high
school every year in boy scouts we took a
50-mile hike in August in the Olympics.

I remember having sore feet and being very
tired at the end of the trip. The food wasn't
great either but the time with friends was the
best.

Often it would rain for a day or two. So always
had a couple extra days planned to finish the
hike.

When it rained we would stay and play cards or
just have fun where we were at.

The Olympics is a really fun place to visit even
if you don't want to hike.

Enjoy your travel wherever you go. Thanks for
stopping by.

Visit to Mount Rainier

Today I went to Mount Rainier. I believe this is the
first time in October unless I was small and don't
remember.

It looked like it snowed on Monday when we had
rain here in Gig Harbor.

There are some nice places to see on the way to the
mountain The Inn at Paradise was closed well
visitor center. Most of the people I saw were out
hiking. Some may have spent the day skiing or
snow shoeing. I went snow shoeing quite a few
years ago with my brothers and sister-in-law
it was a very good time.
